The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) and the Institute of Financial Studies (ISF) are launching the fifth edition of the national financial education program, Start2Learn: Personal Finance, aimed at high school students in the 11th grade from Bucharest and the counties of Dolj, Alba, Iași, Prahova, Galați, Suceava, Timiș, Dâmbovița, Olt, Buzău, and Vrancea, during the period of October–December 2024.

The Start2Learn: Personal Finance program provides students with the basic knowledge needed to start planning their financial goals and helps them lay the foundation for a healthy financial life. By participating in this program, students gain knowledge about:

  • creating and managing a budget for income and expenses to identify efficient ways to use financial resources;

  • setting realistic financial goals to better plan financial resources in the short, medium, and long term;

  • assessing their current financial situation and identifying saving methods to achieve their set objectives.

The project consists of 4 topics taught by partners of the Financial Supervisory Authority and the Institute of Financial Studies, who are experts from both banking and non-banking financial markets (e.g., SIF, Estinvest, BCR, NN, Metropolitan Life, Generali, Omniasig, etc.), with extensive experience in both the financial market and as trainers.

The topics covered during the 4 hours are:

  • Money and banks;

  • The insurance market;

  • The capital market;

  • The private pension system.

The project will take place in 24 high schools with the support of local partner universities.
