The Financial Supervisory Authority, in partnership with the Institute of Financial Studies, conducted the national financial education program Start2Learn: Personal Finance from March to December 2024. This program is dedicated to 11th-grade students who had the opportunity to learn essential concepts for effectively planning their financial goals and laying the foundation for a stable and healthy financial life. Through this program, young people learned how to create and monitor an income and expense budget to use financial resources more efficiently. They also learned to set realistic financial goals, plan their resources for the short, medium, and long term, and assess their current financial situation to save effectively for the future.

The program was a resounding success! During this period, no fewer than 194 classroom teaching sessions were held, supported by over 30 trainers, experts in the non-banking financial sector, members of UNSAR and AAF, alongside teachers from prestigious institutions such as the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, the Petroleum-Gas University in Ploiești, and the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași. The program took place in 11 counties (Dolj, Alba, Timiș, Olt, Buzău, Galați, Prahova, Iași, Dâmbovița, Vrancea, Suceava – and in the municipality of Bucharest), involving 1510 students from 42 high schools.

The program consisted of 4 modules, covered over 4 hours, which were:

  • Money and banks;
  • The insurance market;
  • The capital market;
  • The private pension system.

This program provided students with additional knowledge and confidence, making them better prepared to manage their money, set clear financial goals, and apply the lessons learned for a stable financial future. It represents a significant step forward in financial education in Romania, and the success of this program continues to grow year by year.
