On 21 May 2024, Mr. Valentin IONESCU, President of ISF, participated as a special guest at the 4th Edition of the Universities Conference - Higher Education in Romania on the Global Education Map, an event hosted by USAMV Bucharest and organized by the DC Media Group press trust.

ISF serves as a bridge between the academic environment and the business sector, facilitating access to the job market in the non-banking financial sector, including jobs in insurance, capital markets, and private pensions,” emphasized Mr. IONESCU.

In the opening of his speech, the ISF President highlighted the importance of the connection between education and the well-being of a country’s citizens.
“If a nation is financially educated, it means that all its segments have easy access to the banking system, the insurance market, and the stock exchange, so we believe that a financially educated nation can lead to a solid increase in Gross Domestic Product. That is why we (Institute of Financial Studies) are partners with 21 university centers across the country.”

Regarding the mission of the Institute of Financial Studies, he stated: “We certify individuals working in the insurance market, capital market, and private pension market, where over 50,000 employees are active. We have optional programs, meaning we offer financial education to these partners for free. There are companies we approach with our financial education programs. We also organize several events throughout the year. We provide training courses and programs to understand financial markets in terms of professional development, and most importantly, we have a research component, which is an internationally indexed journal published twice a year in English. In this journal, doctoral students from both Romania and abroad publish.”

ISF Projects in Education

Additionally, ISF became a member of the Association of Economics Faculties in Romania (AFER) last year, and Valentin Ionescu highlighted several programs through which this institution passes on valuable information to those starting their careers in finance.
“Some important projects from the multitude of projects we have: Insurance Academy, SmartFIN, student paper award sessions, and financial education panels within university conferences.

What does SmartFIN mean? It is one of the most important projects, aimed at students from the 21 university centers. The project started in 2021, and so far, we have held 177 meetings attended by over 12,000 students. The purpose of this program is to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, especially since the fundamental role of ISF is to facilitate a bridge between the academic environment and the business sector and access to the job market.

Insurance Academy - AdA is a professional program dedicated to students and is carried out in collaboration with the National Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies in Romania (UNSAR),” concluded Valentin Ionescu, President of ISF.
